Birch Place, Sale

A contemporary design with stylish finishes for a large family lifestyle was the brief for this property.
Objective

Here's what was needed.

After outgrowing their current home, the Sutton family wanted to knock down their existing home and replace it with something larger, lighter and more comfortable.
Challenges

They had an odd shaped site in an established residential suburb which didn’t suit a regular “cookie cutter” design. At concept stage they discovered the roof design they really wanted, which was to allow an influx of light, involved major structural complications. Further to that, the second hand bricks and other non standard materials they saved and dreamed of using, were not available or able to be sourced locally.

Outcome

This is what we accomplished.

RALCON came up with various “out of the box” solutions to solve their material and engineering challenges, to ensure their vision was not compromised. Firstly, finding and working directly with a truss manufacturer to solve the roof design challenges in a cost effective way.

We also sourced and transported second hand bricks from a supplier in Melbourne, along with additional non standard building materials from other regions in order to accomodate the client’s brief

I have never built a house before and they held my hand throughout the process. Every stage of the build was a challenge and not a lot of builders could have pulled this off.
